Startup Review: divorce360.com
Updated on 12/3/2008 based on feedback from Paula at Divorce360. This blog entry focused mainly on their marriage/divorce calculator. However, their site does offer lot other tools for people going through (or contemplating) divorce. While it is not a useful site for me, it may be for you depending on your situation. I.E., do your own DD.
Approximately 1.3 million couples divorce each year. Divorce360.com was created to help people contemplating, going through or recovering from divorce. Their goal is to offer support, information and tools to help people learn about, prepare for and handle divorce and the issues surrounding it. Hmmm.. interesting, right?
What does divorce360.com has to offer? Do you wanna know if your marriage is on the rocks? what’s the likelihood of you getting divorced? Enter Divorce360.com - their mission is to answer these questions - divorce or marriage calculator at your disposal. The site also offer numerous tools that will help you with your divorce process.
Based on my profile, 12% of similar people were already divorced, and I might get divorced (7% chance) within the next 5 years. Damn, is that a good or bad thing? This data does not make any sense, but I like this concept of using statistical data to predict the propensity of one getting divorced.
In other words, divorce360.com needs significant overhaul to their profiling to command my attention. Simply using age, education is never a big factor for divorce. It all comes down to people characteristics, ethnicity, behaviors, socio-economic status and many more. For example, the divorce rate varies among different ethnicities.
My recommendation for divorce360.com is to augment their profiling to a much deeper level (ethnicity, behaviors, wealth status, location, occupation, etc.,) and then use artificial intelligence and neural networks for self-learning and prediction. Until then, I am divorcing their marriage/divorce calculator.
Final Thoughts: Divorce360.com is defienitley gunning for a niche and very lucerative market, which will only grow in the future unless people discard marriage itself as a deviant behavior!

thanks for mentioning http://www.divorce360.com, but i wanted to clarify that the mission of the site is not what you have listed to answer questions about if you will divorce. the marriage caculator, developed by an economist at the university of pennsylvania’s wharton school, was created to help people understand how divorce differs based on factors like education, age of marriage and the era in which you married.
the actual mission of the site is “to help people struggling with the topic of divorce. We hope our site will empower people with information, help lessen the fear of uncertainty and confusion surrounding divorce, give people support and encouragement from an online community and redefine divorce as a transition to a new life.”
the site has over two thousand articles on everything from contemplating divorce, to saving your marriage, to dealing with the process of divorce, to helping with ongoing issues with children, finances and even articles on moving on with dating again and remarriage.
the almost 15 thousand registered members of the site post blogs, ask questions, answer other members questions and have formed a very open, safe and helpful community that strives to offer timely and needed advice to the millions who are suffering with this very difficult time in their lives.
we hope you give the site another chance. with over 100 experts, including lawyers, therapists, relationship experts and more, and writers, reporters, bloggers and members contributing daily to the site, we believe divorce360.com has something of value to offer.
