I was very skeptical of the reemergence of Guns N’ Roses, especially without Slash and Izzy Stradlin. Technically the band should not even be called GNR anymore; rather Axl N’ Roses (ANR) or something like that would be better.
While the bad taste of Slash’s solo album is still fresh in my memory, even after very many years, my expectations were low for Chinese Democracy. I was wrong, Axl has done an amazing job; hardcore GNR fans will not be disappointed.

For whatever the reason, I never bothered to become a member of MySpace. Last week, I had to visit MySpace to try the Gun’N Roses‘ new album Chinese Democracy. Salute to MySpace Music for pulling off such an awesome release of the GNR album. Kudos to the marketing folks (both the label and MySpace); this marks the beginning of myspace’s digital-reach-power. Either MySpace Music is run by extremely smart folks or ridiculously lucky (details to follow later).

So consumers have only one option to buy music -CDs, regardless which way you look at it. If you pirate, you will end-up in jail; then CDs are the only way!!!

Here is a depressing article on music taste and their social/psychological impact. For those metallica lovers out there, this article hurts. Perhaps everyone should start listening only to Pop or Jazz; every other genre comes with a hefty price tag on one’s life.
Following is a summary of the research study/article:
POP: Conformists, overly responsible, role-conscious, struggling with sexuality or peer acceptance.
HEAVY METAL: Higher levels of suicidal ideation, depression, drug use, self-harm, shoplifting, vandalism, unprotected sex.
DANCE: Higher levels of drug use regardless of socio-economic background.
JAZZ/RHYTHM & BLUES: Introverted misfits, loners.
