Linked-in or no linked-in; this is not linked-in flaw instead, it's the flaw in our own insecurities and character.

Even in the old tradition phone call reference methods, people gave false information. People give false statements in courts where they swear honesty before doing that. One has to make his own judgment and take things with grain of salt. Usually I can read a recommendation and totally see thru it, plus you can, in most cases, check the credibility of Reference giver. I would not judge John Doe just because a friend said he was a bad boss. This statement " enormously insecure, self-doubting, pessimistic and sarcastic personality wrapped in Xanax" in itself is an exaggeration and verbose expression of ones feeling/frustrations than facts.

my two cents.

I agree with you. There are sites that generates ideas for recommendation letters, if not, take a look at recommendin.com - It's one of these sites to get some <a href="http://recommendin.com" rel="nofollow">Linkedin recommendation samples</a>, people may use as an automatic way to get ideas for people who want to recommend.

Why have you toned down on myGPSID? Do you see competition becoming more prevalent? It always seemed innovative to me so I would've thought that competition would help myGPSID gain acceptance with the general public. No?

Venky, we've missed you! Can't wait to hear about the new company and what you've been up to. I just finished my second year of law school and will be working for a firm this summer, hoping to focus on intellectual property and technology law. I am really looking forward to working again! :)

Completely agree with you, its gonna be a disaster to the whole Java/JEE technologies, especially when you look at previous Oracle's Java products like JDeveloper, Oracle Application Server, OC4j and so on, they all have been doomed. R.I.P. Sun.

I am using Ubuntu Karmic Koala and things have much evolved :

Here is how it worked for me :
1- Install SyncEvolution by adding this repository
 deb http://www.estamos.de/download/apt stable main

2- Then go to the Ubuntu Software center and search for SyncEvolution and install it (or go thru synaptic or the apt-get install command line if you prefer)

3- Go to the Main Applications menu and choose internet and there you have it. It's an application just named "Sync" Clic on it.

4- Configure you sync service, and everything works

See http://www.estamos.de/projects/SyncML/Installation.html for
details.

Charles Ditzel .. I agree especially with your view of JavaFX .. I myself am a JavaFx developer and my tool is suprisingly a security based app. .. There is lot more power in JavaFx than most people seem to understand.. It has seamless integration to most java components and works wonders with Jython, JRuby etc., using all these amazing optimizations are possible
